Marianne’s Past

For younger fans, Friends, I love it, My English Homework, New and cool, What to do when you're bored, Writings, You'll like it Comments Off

As we all know, in the story Marianne is in a coma. But have you ever asked yourself, why did she end up being in a coma? Here is something that might have happened.

So, she was walking back home from one of her friend’s party, which to be honest she didn’t really enjoy. She had a headache because of the loud music that played that type of music she doesn’t like – it was a true nightmare! Her best friend wasn’t able to come so that at least she could have some company, so all she could think of to leave that terrible place is act like she wasn’t feeling very well and really had to leave. She was right, it worked as she had planned. Everyone believed that she did phone her mum to inform her of the headache she fakely had and they all wished her a good evening as she walked down the hall.

Anyway, as she was walking back home from that party she saw a familiar person walking down the street at the same direction with her! She was trying so hard to recognise him but darkness was all around and she could hardly see him. She decided to cross the road so that she could get closer and finally see who he is. It turned out not to be a good decision though. Yeah, unfortunately you guessed it right. She was exhausted and she felt like her head was about to explode so she wanted to get home as soon as possible and also to check out who that person actually was. She thought she would be fast enough to cross the road quickly, before the red light turned green. She started running. And she ran and ran and ran, as fast as she could. But things don’t always turn out as planned and life is unpredictable. A red car probably didn’t notice the red light and the driver just kept driving. Marianne paniced. She was so close but so far away to the pavement. She was frozen in terror. All she could do was stay there, watching this horrifying moment passing. And the car didn’t stop, and she didn’t run. And the very next day it was all over the news, “Drunk 21-year-old Ben hits 14-year-old girl with his car”

Gerund’s Dream (The Gerund that wanted to become and Infinitive)

Awesome, For younger fans, Friends, From My Class Blog, I love it, My English Homework, New and cool, What to do when you're bored, Writings, You'll like it Comments Off

A long time ago, there was a Gerund that lived in Gerundia with many more Gerunds just like him. They all lived happily and peacefully, there were no problems to worry about in Gerundia and everyone was full of joy. There was just a very little problem for which no one else cared about than this special Gerund, he had a dream that everyone said that it was “impossible to happen” and “there’s no way for your dream to come true”. He wanted to become an Infinitive!

So, one day he packed his suitcase and travelled to Infinity – Infinitive’s country. After a few hours flight, he finally reached Infinity. There, he left the airport and visited his cousin, another Infinitive in Infinity. When Gerund was young, he was told by his parents that his cousin had an awful accident and lost his best friend, “to”, and since then he is a bare infinitive – every infinitive’s nightmare! Although he was very sad for having no friends he was very hospitable and let Gerund stay at his house for as long as he wanted. Gerund was so happy, he could finally be an Infinitive!

He had some sleep and the next day, as the sun rose, he went to the city’s library. He spent his whole morning there, reading every single Grammar book he could find in order to find a way to become an Infinitive! “Rule #1 : All Infinitives have “to” as their friend, unless they are considered BARE INFINITIVES and live as lonely as the Gerunds”. “So, all I have to do is find a friend, am I wrong?!” thought he and started searching for a new friend.

It wasn’t that difficult, he easily found a “to” walking down the street on its own, saying he lost his ex-friend and wanted a new one. They became best friends, although there was an enormous problem. Gerunds were forbidden to have friends “to”s! He thought he was illegal, so he tried to change his suffix. The more he tried, the more difficult it seemed to happen. “It is impossible, I can’t change my suffix!” said the Gerund miserably, thinking of all the time he spent trying to find out ways to become an Infinitive.

He thanked his cousin for letting him stay at his home, said goodbye to him and to his illegal friend, “to”, and flew away to Gerundia. He was very disappointed and realized that he should change his dreams. All the criticism, all the comments behind his back turned out to be right – Grammar can’t change for any type of friendship or goal.

Reading Interest Survey

Awesome, Did you know?, Famous, For younger fans, Friends, From My Class Blog, Helpful, I love it, My English Homework, New and cool, What to do when you're bored, You'll like it Comments Off

I have recently asked 10 people, including relatives, friends and strangers, to tell me about their Reading Habits.

So, here are my results!! Hope they are useful! :

According to my survey, 50% of teenagers prefer to read fiction books than non-fiction. Also, 90% of them spend almost 1-2 hours reading books every day, while the other 10% reads for 0-1 hours a day!! The kind of book that 30% of teens love reading is Adventure, while the other 70% of them are keen on Mystery, Humorous and Horror books, as well! Unfortunately, all of them mostly read textbooks-because of school! The characters that 40% of teenagers are interested in are people their age. 30% prefer people who go through the same issues with them, while the other 30% loves reading about fantasy characters. How about where they all get most of their reading materials? Well, my Survey shows that 20% of people who were asked the same question, borrow books from their friends. Also, another 50% get their reading material from the Internet, while another 30% of them buy their books from a book store.

Interesting, wasn't it? I personally didn't expect these to be their answers!!

How about you? What kind of books do you like reading? I'd love to know :-)

Kisses!!

Online homework assignments

Awesome, Computers, Famous, For younger fans, Friends, From My Class Blog, Funny, Helpful, Important, My English Homework, New and cool, What to do when you're bored, Writings, You'll like it Comments Off

In today’s society a knowledge of computers is necessary and students should know how to use one. But should all homework assignments be done on a computer and sent by an email to the teacher? In my opinion, sending your homework assignments by email is much easier, but might not be practical if you don’t have Internet access. Also, you may lose everything you’ve done so far if there’s a current blackout.

Sending all your homework assignments by email has a lot of advantages-and disadvantages, too. Students can make their assignments look good and it’s much easier for teachers to receive work. They will improve their knowledge of computer technology, too. One more benefit of doing your homework online, is that it doesn’t take loads of time to write. On the other hand, not everyone has a computer at home and it is pretty difficult to stop children copying from the Internet. Also, students need to practise writing by hand to prepare for written examinations. While doing all your work on the computer, it may hinder your eye sight, too.

In conclusion, giving your homework assignments straight to your teacher is better than doing it online. As I see it, schools should avoid giving much homework online. A possible solution would be to do many exercises in class using a computer or not, so that all students can improve their computer skills. Also, homework would be better to be given in class and not online, as there are many possibilities of losing your work.

"…and you have to send me this exercise until next Friday!!"

"Where can I find that exercise?? Uh oh!!"

"My exercise is ready!! Yes!! …oh, no!! I forgot to save it!! Tomorrow is Friday, I have no time to write it all over again!!"

Are team sports better than individual sports?

Awesome, Dreams, Famous, For younger fans, Friends, From My Class Blog, Helpful, Important, My English Homework, New and cool, Writings, You'll like it Comments Off

Some sports, such as basketball and volleyball are, are played while being in a team. Others, such as tennis is, are played with only one person in each “team”. Both team and individual sports have advantages.

Individual sports are certainly more convenient, mainly because you can do the sport whenever you like. Also, they are more likely to do regularly, as you don’t need to tell anyone to come and play or practice with you. On the other hand, team sports are more enjoyable, mainly because you have fun while practicing with your friends and not alone.

In conclusion, it is better to play a team sport is my opinion. You may have to practice rarely if a member of the team can’t join the practice, but you will never get bored while playing a game or exercising with your friends, as you have fun. Also, if your team beats the other team in a match, you can celebrate the win with all your playmates and enjoy the moment with people who played with you.

Christmas Tourist Destinations

Awesome, Celebrations, Dreams, Famous, For younger fans, Friends, From My Class Blog, I love it, My English Homework, Writings, You'll like it Comments Off

I’m lucky enough to live in Buakhaga, Shueo. The area I live has lots of exciting Christmas attractions. With more than one million visitors every year, Shueo is the most worth visiting country in the world with loads of places to discover!

One place that is a must for tourists is Gefu, also known as “Christmas-land”. In this part of the city there are  so many Christmas shops, that it’s like being in a Christmas Paradise! You can easily find the most fashionable Christmas clothes and shoes in great bargains! With more than a million shops, you will never get disappointed that you didn’t find the perfect Christmas present you needed. The strangest fact about this place is that it is even open in summer, selling Christmas stuff!

The second place that shouldn’t be missed while visiting Buakhaga, Shueo is Maheti-Suriano. The thing that makes this part of the city special is its unique “Santa’s Factory”, where you can see Santa’s elves preparing your Christmas presents right before your eyes! Here, you can also talk to Santa Claus, learn Mrs Claus’s special recipe for Christmas chocolate cookies and even ride one of Santa’s reindeer! Some people call it “All Children’s Favorite Christmas Place” because more than ten million children visit it every year! Admission is very low, so every year more and more tourists are coming to this enchanted place!

Both places give you a taste of Christmas time in Buakhaga and shouldn’t be missed. There are no tourists who got disappointed because they didn’t have fun while visiting these places.

The Nightmare Just Before Christmas

About ClubEFL, Awesome, Celebrations, Dreams, Famous, For younger fans, Friends, From My Class Blog, Funny, Helpful, I love it, Important, Magic, My English Homework, Writings, You'll like it Comments Off

It was another bitterly cold and frosty December night in the North Pole. A frozen blanket of snow lay deep and crisp on the ground. Jack Frost had visited every home and had etched magnificent spiral patterns into every glass window. It really was the harshest weather that anyone could ever remember and it was two days until Christmas!

Santa Claus was extremely busy adding the finishing touches to his Christmas preparations. He was shortly about to deliver thousands of wonderful Christmas presents to many excited children from all over the world. His elves were beginning to load masses of shiny gifts onto his sleigh and his brave reindeer were practicing their final manoeuvres before the big day. Everything was coming together nicely; Santa was very pleased with his team.

The big day was already here. It was the 24th December! Now, everyone could hear children singing the carols in every neighborhood. They were all so excited! "Santa will bring us gifts!" said a kid to his friend. "I don't think so…I had a fight with my mother yesterday, I'm not sure if I'll get a present this year" said the other one.

Things weren't that nice in Santa's house. The elves were paniced! "Oh, no!", "Help us someone!", "What are we going to do now?"… They couldn't believe in their eyes! Rudolph had just broken his leg, while playing hide-and-seek with Machi and Danica, some other of Santa's reindeer!! He couldn't ride the sleigh, now! "Ho ho ho… what happened here?" santa cried. "Santa! Santa! Come here, quickly!!" an elf shouted. Santa started running towards Rudolph. "Oh, no! Now, how are we going to give children their Christmas presents we've been preparing so long? Dorina! Take Rudolph to the nearest hospital! Take Aspasia with you, too! Make sure he will be okay." Santa said, totally shocked.

While Dorina and Aspasia were on their way to the "North Pole's Frozen Hospital", Efi, Santa's best elf, realized that there were 1O presents missing!! "You must be kidding me!" Santa Claus whispered. He couldn't believe what was happening!! Nothing was okay! Rudolph broke his leg, there were many presents missing… At night they had to deliver the presents to every children all over the world. They would get disappointed if their Christmas Tree was empty on Christmas Day!

Santa decided to find the thief. He wore his dark, detective-suit and his lucky hat and went out of his house. "Bill and George, come with me. I need you in this mission…" he said. Bill and George felt so proud of themselves! "We are important! Yey!!!" they shouted. "Shh… Miss Claus is sleeping! We should do this silently. Come here now, without singing this time". They were ready to catch the thief!

Before they start the search, Bill saw something near an ice berg. “Can you see thos footprints over there?” he said, “I think they will bring us to the thief!”. “You’re right! Let’s do this!!” George cried and they all followed the footprints.

At the same time, Rudolph was at the hospital. The “North Pole’s Frozen Hospital”. Dorina and Aspasia were sitting at the… “standby room” waiting for Rudolph to bandage his injury. “He is okay for now, but we’re not sure at all if he can fly tonight.” a nurse said, quite sad.

The cold wind was howling and almost everything was frozen. Santa, George and Bill were on their way to the thief, when, all out of a sudden, it started to rain! The footprints were slowly disappearing from the ground and it was extremely difficult to see them now. Luckily, the footprints stopped in front of an enormous, wooden door. Bill said that they should knock the door to ask the housekeeper if he/she saw someone running in Santa’s lucky costume, holding loads of presents. Unfortunately, George was afraid to knock the door, because he was afraid of haunted houses and ghosts. So, they had no choice. Santa knocked nervously the door. A woman, who looked like a witch though, opened the enormous, wooden door grinning. “Hello! What are you looking for?” she muttered. “Ho ho ho! Merry Christmas!! You see, someone stole about ten gifts from my sack! Now, ten children will get very disappointed finding nothing down their wonderful Christmas trees! Have you seen anyone running this way, holding colorful-covered gifts in my lucky costume?” Santa asked the woman. She kept smiling for a while, but in just a few seconds she apologized her terrible mistake. “Ohh.. I’m so sorry! I did it.. I saw your elves preparing some fantastic ballet shoes for Aspasia and a new, awesome tennis racket for Efi that I couldn’t believe in my eyes! I thought it would be alright, as your elves can make new presents easily, but  I didn’t know it takes so much time! Now I wasn’t able to bring these back, you would shout to me. It’s okay, take your gifts back. As for your lucky costume, here it is. I’m sorry I did it! I will never do this again, I promise!” said the witch close to tears. Santa took his stuff back, smiled at her and asked her her name. “Maria! My name is Maria and I’d love to take my Christmas present this year… Please!” she replied while she was sweeping her tears.

They agreed for Maria’s Christmas present in no time and started running back home to check everything else they needed-if the sleigh was well painted, if the gifts were all covered with colorful paper and the most important-if Rudolph was able to fly!

At home, miss Claus was still sleeping and all the elves were watching their favorite Christmas movie, “Rudolph Get Well Soon!”. “Hey! We have no time for movies now! Efi! Count the presents for last time. Evaggelia! Check if the sleigh is still wet or able to fly and Lena! Oh.. where is Lena?” Santa cried. “Here I am! Sorry!!” she replied, with her mouth full of miss Claus chocolate cookies. “I want you to call Dorina and Aspasia and ask them about Rudolph. Will he fly tonight, or we will use the flying carpet instead of reindeers?” said Santa.

Santa felt his heart pounding fast. Aspasia and Dorina had forgotten their mobile phones at home! Oh, no! Fortunately, in a couple of minutes his elves came back with Rudolph. He was better now and the nurse said that he could fly tonight but not any other time these days, until his leg is fine. He felt so proud of his team! The sleigh was dry, there were no presents missing and Rudolph would fly all over the world for one more time. In other words, they were ready for the best delivering ever!

This year, everyone took his Christmas gift on-time. Every house was full of smiley faces and laughs. This was the best Christmas in history!

Hey everyone!!

Here is my FIRST post in my Class' Blog..

Check it out :

Hey!!

I'm Zeta. I'd like to talk to you about my extra-curricular activities. Have YOU got any??

First of all, I have only two after-school activities and I really like them!

One of them is English Lessons. I go to the Pre Lower (B1) Class of the English School "YES!". I've been studying English for 6 years. In a way, I prefer communicate in English than in Greek-I find it more interesting! In Class, we all have fun and enjoy the lessons.

Another extra-curricular activity I have is Piano Lessons. I love it so much! I have been studying it for almost 4 years. I adore playing the Piano, I think that it's the most relaxing and creative thing you can do in your spare time. It totally makes you feel better when you are sad or even angry.

So, these are my extra-curricular activities. How about you?? Do you learn another foreign language?? How about musical instruments?? Do you play any??

Kisses!!
